It’s virtual learning but real experiences for Rishita Shrikhande, who feels at home at NIIT University

Jan 25, 2020

Transition from high school to college is all about spreading your wings and reaching for the skies. But it’s also the time where you leave the security net of school teachers and friends behind. Indore girl Rishita Shrikhande reminds us of this fact as she talks about her “growing up” right from the early stages of the Integrated MBA programme at NIIT University. “When you are in college, the decisions you make are your own. There is no room for mistakes. Thankfully NU made this transition easier for me and I feel more independent today,” she asserts.

After going through several reviews and speaking to alumni from various institutes, Rishita chose the management programme at the University to pursue her corporate dreams. However it was during the most unusual circumstances, which should have made the transition trickier. So how did it turn into a smooth ride? “The first week of virtual learning was brilliant because we got a break from the boredom that had set in during the lockdown. Seeing batch mates from all over the country was refreshing and reassuring as well,” she says enthusiastically.

But after the initial excitement it was back to serious business. Rishita talks about the learning portal created by NU, which became her one stop resource for everything related to academics. It ensured that there were no roadblocks in the learning process. In spite of being conducted on virtual platforms, the classroom sessions remained interactive. “I was amazed at how engaging virtual classrooms were. We also had guest lectures from renowned professionals, who shared their experiences with us. These insights will help me navigate through the business world,” she adds.

Rishita also highlights the significance of innovative pedagogies employed by faculty members. From quizzes to creating presentations on Contemporary Business Issues, students were offered immersive learning experiences every step of the way. Meanwhile they also got a taste of campus life through various social platforms. “Besides club meetings and house meets there were many informal interactions as well. When our batch mates were chosen Mr. and Ms. Fresher we had a group call to celebrate the moment,” she says.

Rishita is clearly making the most of every moment irrespective of the circumstances. As she firmly feels a part of the NU family, she looks forward to her new “home”. The campus nestled in the Aravalli hills beckons. But meanwhile it’s business as usual.
