Mohit Motwani, B.Tech – Biotechnology, Class of 2024 on finding the goodness of digital learning experience during the pandemic

Jan 18, 2020

My choice of NIIT University initiated when I first saw its advertisement and found it a good university. It looked exactly like what I was looking for in an undergrad program and after talking with some faculty members here I decided to join the B.Tech Biotechnology program. At first, I was baffled and confused as any fresh high school graduate would be but with the passage of time I realised that choosing NIIT University was indeed a good decision.

I was one of the lucky ones who actually visited the campus physically and had the opportunity for a good look at the serene campus. This further convinced me of the choice.

The pandemic situation meant that learning on this campus was not an option. NIIT University turned adversity into opportunity and moved to learn online quickly and seamless. They developed the NU Learning Portal, which is for classroom learning and ‘Moodle’, the exam portal. These portals are so easy to use and effective that I feel I am not missing out any aspect of learning, while I am staying safe at home. Faculty also has been innovative in using these tools. Once Sumeet Gangwar Sir adopted a new technique – he showed us the entire process of sheet metal work step by step using all the machines to us live and made it as interactive as possible.

Technology has also come to the rescue for networking and connecting with our new friends and seniors. I am interacting with seniors and batchmates through google meet and zoom calls for help in various projects and assignments and group discussions, besides online socializing.

I am already looking forward to welcoming the next batch. They have much to look forward to whether they join in online mode or on campus.
