NU LIRC works as a gateway to an ocean of information and knowledge. It is fully computerised and well-managed. It has a good collection of text and reference books, e-journals and journals. Giving priority to users’ preferences, LIRC subscribes more electronic documents than print.

The LIRC remains closed on all University holidays.
LIRC is well stocked with books which support learning, teaching, research and general needs across varied disciplines. It also facilitates the purchase of textbooks for students on the basis of received requests.
The LIRC has subscribed McGraw-Hill – Access Engineering package which provides access of more than 742 e-books on Biomedical, Business Skills, Communications Engineering, Electrical & Electronics, Environmental Sustainability, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Chemistry, Microbiology, Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science to its users.
LIRC provides access of 15793 National and International journals / e-journals to its users. The collection covers Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics, Bio-technology, Business and Management, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Education Technology, GIS and other related subjects. These e-journals can be browsed through University Moodle (Nucleus) also.
The LIRC has also subscribed video lectures of the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL). Users can access these videos in the LIRC.
It has a good collection of reference books, dictionaries and handbooks. The collection also comprises educational and recreational videos besides light reading resources i.e. magazines & daily newspapers.
National Digital Library
LIRC has access of National Digital Library. LIRC users can access the contributed contents (text, audio, video, image, animation, simulation, presentation and application) of the followings:-
UGC - Sodhganga (Ph.D Thesis), IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIM Ahmedabad NCERT and NPTEL (IIT Madras)
SERVICES AND FACILITIES
The LIRC provides lending services to its user. Lending timings are:
Monday to Saturday: 10:00 AM to 07:00 PM
Sunday: 10:00 AM to 05:30 PM
Reference Book: 11:00 PM to 11:50 PM
Under graduate Student: 02 books for 7 days.
Post Graduate Students: 02 books for 7 days.
Research Scholar: 05 books for 15 days.
Other Staff: 2 books at a time for 15 days.
Faculty: 5 books for 30 days
It also facilitates reprographic facilities such as printing, colour printing, photocopy, spiral binding and scanning of documents at nominal charges.
The LIRC is fully automated and uses bar code technology for circulation. It uses 'LibSys' and Koha software for Library management. The Library catalogue can be browsed through OPAC within the NU campus and it can be accessed in the LIRC through the OPAC terminal which has MicroTouch screen.
Classified and Stack Index System
The LIRC is classified according to DDC and books are arranged properly which helps its users to locate relevant books without wasting much time. Every stack in the Library has an index. Index and OPAC together help users in locating book(s) on shelves.
Knowledge Dissemination Cell (KDC)
LIRC has established a Knowledge Dissemination Cell which disseminates information through current awareness service, current content service, alert information services and newspaper clipping among academic fraternity of NU. It also provides reference and bibliographic services to users on demand. Knowledge Dissemination Cell (KDC) provides three types of services:-

DELNET & INFLIBNET
The Library is an Associate Member of INFLIBNET. It has got membership of DELNET which provides Inter Library Loan Service i.e. books and articles on exchange and loan basis. Association with DELNET has widened the range of information resources. The library uses Inter Library Facility to fulfil the requirements of the NU academic community.
