NU LIRC works as a gateway to an ocean of information and knowledge. It is fully computerised and well-managed. It has a good collection of text and reference books, e-journals and journals. Giving priority to users’ preferences, LIRC subscribes more electronic documents than print.

It also facilitates reprographic facilities such as printing, colour printing, photocopy, spiral binding and scanning of documents at nominal charges.
The LIRC is fully automated and uses bar code technology for circulation. It uses 'LibSys' and Koha software for Library management. The Library catalogue can be browsed through OPAC within the NU campus and it can be accessed in the LIRC through the OPAC terminal which has MicroTouch screen.
The LIRC is classified according to DDC and books are arranged properly which helps its users to locate relevant books without wasting much time. Every stack in the Library has an index. Index and OPAC together help users in locating book(s) on shelves.
LIRC has established a Knowledge Dissemination Cell which disseminates information through current awareness service, current content service, alert information services and newspaper clipping among academic fraternity of NU. It also provides reference and bibliographic services to users on demand. Knowledge Dissemination Cell (KDC) provides three types of services:-
The Library is an Associate Member of INFLIBNET. It has got membership of DELNET which provides Inter Library Loan Service i.e. books and articles on exchange and loan basis. Association with DELNET has widened the range of information resources. The library uses Inter Library Facility to fulfil the requirements of the NU academic community.
