The Mentorship ProgramTM at NIIT University (NU) is built on the premise that experiential inputs, macro-level insights and networking opportunities are all immensely necessary for an MBA student.
Each student of NU’s MBA programme (NU-MBA) will be guided and mentored by an eminent corporate leader and coached by an industry professional. The Industry Mentors include CEOs of some of the largest and most reputed companies in the country.
NU recently organised a counselling session for MBA aspirants and invited industry stalwarts such as Mr. Atul Singh, President (South West Asia Business) Coca Cola Company and Mr. Bhaskar Pramanik, Former MD, Oracle India Pvt. Ltd., to interact with existing and prospective students.
The event provided a platform for the coming together of some of the best minds from Industry and Academia. They guided the students on current industry trends and the various opportunities available in India’s emerging knowledge economy.
Mr. Singh emphasised the importance of making studies more practical-oriented rather than theoretical.A practical orientation teaches and prepares students to adapt and adjust to new situations and environments, thereby making them more effective entrepreneurs, managers and professionals. Sustainability of education plays vital role in the changing world wherein technology and internet have crucial roles to play.It has become imperative that students learn and evolve simultaneously to be able to feel the change happening and make the best out of it.
According to Mr. Singh, 90% of learning happens on the job and 10% of learning is attributed to the classroom.Real life experience always has an edge over theoretical knowledge, which he said, is accessible to every student at NIIT University.
Mr. Pramanik stated from his vast experience that mentoring plays an integral part in large multinational organisations.Individuals aspiring for success need to perform because consistent performance brings success automatically, he added. He further said that a mentor plays a crucial role in the overall development of a professional by guiding an individual throughout different stages of his career as he/she moves up the corporate hierarchy. He also cited the major roles and responsibilities of a mentor.
Mr. Pramanik concluded by assuring students that NIIT University is aimed at producing performance-oriented individuals who prepare and create future opportunities.
The Mentorship ProgramTM transforms an academically-rich MBA into the MBA of the future by helping them build meaningful connections to the real world of business and become successful leaders of the future.
