Ph.D Admissions

NU Scholar Search Programme

  1. All registered full-time residential students would be provided financial assistance for maximum five years depending on the satisfactory report from the doctoral committee.
    1. Financial assistance of Rs. 30,000/- per month during the course work and till the date of approval of research proposal to the candidates who have the M.Tech. degree.
    2. Financial assistance of Rs. 20,000/ (per month) will be paid during the course work and till the date of approval of research proposal to the candidates who do not have the M.Tech. degree.
    3. Financial assistance of Rs. 35,000/- (per month) thereafter till completion of three years from the date of 1st registration.
    4. Financial assistance of Rs. 40,000/- (per month) for the remaining period of Ph.D. not exceeding five years from the date of 1st registration. The enhancement will be based on the performance, paper publication and recommendation of doctoral committee and approval of University level research committee.

      Note: For the purpose of financial assistance, the period in which a student is registered, will be counted. If a student takes a break between two semesters, the break period will not be counted and the student will not be paid during the break period.
  2. The Residential fulltime research scholars will assist to the extent of 8 to 10 hours per week in academic activities as teaching assistant. The area director will engage the fulltime research scholars in different academic activities like
    1. Engage laboratory sessions
    2. Assist students in projects
    3. Assist in laboratory setup
    4. Assist in preparing quiz/assignments
    5. Assist in invigilation duty
    6. Assist in Tutorial class

In lieu of the above services, such full-time residential students shall be exempt from payment of university fee.

Terms and Conditions

  1. The numbers of NU scholarships available under this programme are limited and are awarded on merit basis.
  2. Failure to remit the applicable fees will lead to termination of the student from the rolls of the university.
  3. The grant of NU scholarship will be at the sole discretion of the University and no disputes will be entertained.
  4. The University may alter or discontinue the NU Scholar Search Programme at its sole discretion.
  5. The duration of the above stated financial assistance provided by NU will be maximum five years including course work. Under no circumstance will the financial assistance be provided beyond five years.

Fees Deposition:

Fees should be deposited only through digital transfer mode, No Cash will be accepted against Fees deposition. This is as per the UGC D.O. No. F. 1 -1l201 7(Secy) dated: 6th June, 2017.


  1. In addition to the above, one time refundable interest-free security deposit of INR 25,000 (Rupees Twenty Five Thousand Only) is payable at the time of enrollment in addition to the above mentioned fees. The acceptance fee would be adjusted against the refundable interest-free security deposit of INR 25,000.
  2. Mess charges are payable at actuals payable in advance for the semester for the residential programmes and on actuals for the non-residential programmes.
  3. Hostel Fee would not be applicable for non-residential doctorate programmes.

  5. Hostel Fee, Mess & Laundry Charges Applicable only for on campus students

Refund of Interest-Free Security Deposit

The security deposit amount will be refunded to the student on completion of the Programme, subject to any deductions on account of any books not returned to the library or any damages caused to the equipment and infrastructure of the University, etc.

Refund of Fee

Any amount paid will be refunded subject to a deduction of acceptance cum admission processing fee towards processing charges. Students can request for a refund only before the commencement of the programme. Procedure to request a refund

  • Send a written application stating the reason for refund.
  • The application should be duly signed by both the student and a parent and should include an identity proof of the applicant, admission offer letter and payment receipt.
  • The application can be downloaded from our website www.niituniversity.in.
  • The applicant should be available for a face-to-face exit PCI, if required by the university.

Note: No email requests for refunds will be entertained. Once the refund application is received, the admission will be withdrawn.
