Step 1: Download the Ph.D Admission Application Form, print the same and submit the completed form along with all the required documents in one of the following ways:

The Application fee of INR 1500/- can be paid online or by cash/cheque/demand draft in favour of NIIT University, payable at Gurgaon. If the Application fee is paid in cash, then the completed application form along with the required documents and Application Fee should be submitted in person only.
Step 2: NU will send an acknowledgement of the receipt of the Admission Application Form within 48 hours of receiving the application.
Step 3: The Dean Research Office will notify eligible applicants about entrance exam dates and location. The entrance exam will be a combination of multiple choice and/or short answer type questions. These questions will be drawn from core subjects and will test the general aptitude for research. The entrance exam will carry 40% weightage.
Step 4: The Selection Committees of the respective areas will call the shortlisted applicants for an interview. This can take place on the day of the entrance exam itself. The interview panel will be headed by Dean Research and will include the Area Director, one professor from the area and one or two experts from the subject area from reputed universities/research organisations/industry. The interview will carry 60% weightage.
Step 5: An admission offer will be made to the selected applicants within 5 working days of the completion of the interview process via SMS, Email and Courier. Applicants may be put on a waitlist. Those who have not been selected will receive a letter of regret.
Step 6: The selected candidates should submit the Admission Acceptance Letter duly signed by them and their parent/guardian/spouse along with a non-refundable Admission Acceptance fee of INR 25,000 (Rupees Twenty five thousand only) within 5 working days of receiving the offer letter. They also need to pay the applicable fee within 15 days of receiving the offer letter, by cash, electronic transfer or Demand Draft (in favour of NIIT University, payable at Gurgaon). Cash payments have to be made in person only.
Step 7: Students should arrive on the University campus on 2nd Jan 2017 OR 1st Aug 2017, as applicable, to complete the first set of registration formalities. The formalities include submission of original mark sheets of Graduation, Class X and XII along with Masters, if applicable for verification.
Ph.D applicants shall be classified under any one of the following categories:
Eligible applicants from all three categories possessing the minimum educational qualifications will be required to appear in an Entrance examination conducted at the University announced through open advertisement. Details of the entrance examination are Area-specific. NIIT University staff members would be exempted from the entrance examination.
Selection Committees of the respective areas will be responsible for the conduct of the Entrance examination and selection thereof. The Selection Committee would be headed by Dean Research and will include Area Director, one Professor from the area and one expert from an allied subject area (nominated by the President from a list of experts from that area).
A doctoral committee shall be constituted within 4 weeks of the date of joining of the Ph.D scholar after the Area Director intimates to the Dean, Research, for each research scholar the area of research, the name(s) of the supervisor(s) and a panel of names, indicating the area of specialisation of faculty members.

In case any member goes on leave exceeding one year duration, or resigns or retires from the University, the Chairman, Academic council or his nominee will nominate another member on the suggestion of the Chairman, Doctoral Committee.
