The NU MBA is an innovative programme designed to create leaders of the knowledge economy who are capable of providing distinctive contribution to their organisations, while creating exceptional career opportunities for themselves.
It includes 25 core courses, 9 domain-specific electives, 2 professional electives and 3 projects, in addition to other electives and a 24 weeks internship programme. The programme goes beyond conventional MBA curricula with respect to the range and intensity of courses.
Concentration Areas – a specially-designed set of at least 6 courses – offered in the domains of Marketing, Finance, HR, Digital Marketing, Business Analytics, Banking , Banking Technology. This is one of the first MBA programmes in the country that recognises the growing significance of these knowledge sectors as a part of the curriculum.
Every NU MBA student is guided by a mentor who is an eminent business leader, typically a CEO of a reputed corporation, and gains an exposure to top-level decision-making perspectives. This unique initiative has been successfully implemented for the last 4 years.
The programme includes 3 real-life projects, including one drawn from the NGO space, plus an 8-week internship. The emphasis on projects is more than in conventional MBA programmes.
The programme enables immediate productivity at the post-MBA job through several industry-linked components that enhance the student’s exposure, familiarity and application, such as projects, mentorship, special electives, industry interactions and internship. The programme nurtures the student’s early career by offering a package of Communication courses, and simulating situations that would be faced in the first 5 years on the job.
NU’s collaborating industries play a key role in the NU MBA Programme. The programme design is decided in consultation, and their involvement is planned in the conduct of the programme and internship. The Scholarship Scheme associated with the NU MBA is funded by these partners. In most cases, these companies have indicated a number of placement openings at the conclusion of the programme.
An intense and supervised exposure, tentatively of 3-weeks duration, to the economy and industry of an emerging economy, is an optional add-on to the NU MBA. This not only helps to acquire a global perspective, but also develops the ability to survive, learn and grow in an unfamiliar locale. In the past, students have gone through their immersion experience in the cities of Nanjing, Beijing and Shanghai in China.
