The NU Scholar Search Programme

In order to encourage and support meritorious candidates, NU has implemented a very distinctive scholarship programme called the ‘NU Scholar Search Programme’. The Programme offers four scholarship plans. The benefits under each plan are as follows:

The scholarships offered by NU are applicable for all four years in case of the B.Tech Programme and all five years in case of the B.Tech-M.Tech Integrated Dual Degree Programme, conditional to maintaining the required CGPA. The student is considered for a scholarship upgrade at the end of each academic year based on the actual CGPA achievement but the scholarship downgrade or withdrawal is only considered after every two academic years based on the actual CGPA achievement.

The boards have been categorized based on the performance of the top 20 percentile of successful candidates in his/ her respective Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination. The score of the candidate in either Class X or Class XII will be rounded off to the next nearest highest score. The eligibility for the NU Scholar Search Programme is as per Tables 1 to 4.

To qualify for the scholarship as defined in Tables 1 to 4:

  • The candidate should secure at least 60% aggregate in five subjects in both Class X and XII Board Examinations respectively in addition to the score/ rank specified above.
  • For aggregate calculation for Class X, the four compulsory subjects are English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. Student can choose any fifth subject.
  • Candidate will be offered the benefit of the plan most favorable to her/him.
  • A candidate applying before the announcement of the class XII results will be offered a scholarship on a provisional basis. A candidate who does not qualify for scholarship at the time of Early Admissions, may qualify based on the Class XII marks or any of the entrance ranks as specified above, later on. The final scholarship category will be decided on the basis of the marks obtained in Class XII or rank obtained in the Entrance Examination specified above.
  • Applications from the wards of employees of NIIT University (NU) will be awarded 5% weightage in both - Class X and Class XII, over and above the marks obtained by the ward for scholarship. This would apply up to scholarship MS-B only. The scholarship in subsequent years would be governed by the existing scholarship policy.

Please note that all scholarships are subject to availability. Meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee award of scholarship.

SCHOLARSHIP PLANS FOR SUBSEQUENT YEARS

The scholarships offered by NU are applicable for all four years in case of the B.Tech Programme and all five years in case of the B.Tech-M.Tech Integrated Dual Degree Programme, conditional to maintaining the required CGPA. The scholarships may be both upgraded and downgraded based on the actual CGPA achievement. The table below provides the details.

Terms and Conditions for the NU Scholar Search Programme:

  1. The number of NU scholarships available under this programme is limited and are awarded on first-come first-serve basis to eligible candidates.
  2. The NU scholarship will be upgraded, downgraded or withdrawn in case the student fails to meet the stipulated as shown in Table 5.
  3. For the year in which the NU scholarship gets downgraded or withdrawn, the entire applicable fee will be payable by the student within 10 days of announcement of the University results, or July 15 - whichever is later.
  4. Failure to remit the applicable fee will lead to termination/ suspension of the student from the rolls of the university.
  5. A candidate, who has qualified for admission under the ‘Early Admission Mode but has not qualified for the NU scholarship, may apply for NU scholarship again after obtaining the Class XII result and/or the Competitive Entrance Examination results. This will enable her/ him to get another chance to be awarded a NU scholarship based on the most favorable criteria applicable.
  6. Candidates, who have taken admission with no scholarship in the first year, may avail scholarship in the second year provided they secure the required CGPA in the first year.
  7. The NU scholarship will be withdrawn from the semester in the event of the student receiving a punishment by the Disciplinary committee.
  8. The grant of NU scholarship will be at the sole discretion of the University and no disputes will be entertained.
  9. The University may alter or discontinue the NU Scholar Search Programme at any time its sole discretion.
  10. FEE

    You can opt for one of the two payment plans offered by the University:

    1. Annual Payment Plan (APP)
    2. Semester Payment Plan (SPP)

    NOTE: All fees can be paid either in cash, through electronic transfer, or by demand draft drawn in favor of NIIT University, payable at Gurgaon.

    ANNUAL PAYMENT PLAN (APP)

    THE TOTAL FEE PAYABLE BY THE CANDIDATE IN THE ANNUAL PAYMENT PLAN (APP) IS AS PER THE TABLES BELOW. THE FIRST YEAR’S FEE IS PAYABLE AT THE TIME OF ENROLLMENT. THE SUBSEQUENT YEARS’ FEE IS PAYABLE IN ADVANCE BY JULY 15 EVERY YEAR. THE FEE SHOWN FOR YEARS 2, 3, AND 4 IS A PROJECTED FEE, ASSUMING A 5% ESCALATION EVERY YEAR. THE EXACT AMOUNT WILL BE INFORMED TO THE STUDENT AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH YEAR.

    One time refundable interest-free security deposit of INR 50,000 (Rupees Fifty Thousand Only) is payable at the time of enrollment.

    Non Refundable EAD Acceptance Fee of INR 20,000/- will be adjusted with Security Deposit but RAD Acceptance Fee of INR 25,000/- is non- adjustable and non-refundable.

    The hostel fee is for triple occupancy rooms. Male students can change to double occupancy by paying an additional amount of INR 21,500 per annum or to single occupancy by paying INR 38,300 per annum additionally. For female students, only single room option is available for which an additional payment of INR 21,500 per annum is required. In subsequent years the allocation of single, double or triple occupancy room is based on availability and is allocated on a first- come first- served basis. The Triple & Double room occupancy will be extremely limited in subsequent years. It is highly recommended that from 2nd year onwards students move into single occupancy rooms.

    CHANGING FEE PLANS

    A student can change the selected fee plan if the following conditions are fulfilled:

    • For changing the fee plan the student will have to pay a change processing fee of INR 1,000 every time a request is made for a change.
    • A request for change can be made only once in a year latest by August 30 of every year.
    • The student should contact the University Accounts department to get the exact amount payable consequent to any fee plan change.
    • Hostel room allocation will be based on first-come first-served for all four/five years.

    REFUND RULES

    REFUND OF INTEREST-FREE SECURITY DEPOSIT

    The security deposit amount will be refunded to the student on completion of the four-year programme, subject to any deductions on account of books not returned to the library, damages caused to the equipment and infrastructure of the University, etc.

    REFUND OF SEMESTER/ANNUAL FEE

    Any amount paid will be refunded subject to a deduction of acceptance and admission processing fee towards processing charges. Students can request for a refund only before the commencement of the programme.

    PROCEDURE TO REQUEST A REFUND:

    • Send a written application stating the reason for refund to Central Admission office.
    • The application should be duly signed by both the student and his/her parent and should include an identity proof of the applicant, admission offer letter and payment receipt.

    • The applicant should be available for a face-to-face exit PCI, if required by the university.

    Note: No email requests for refunds will be entertained. Once the refund application is received, the admission will be withdrawn.

    PROCESSING TIME

    The refund will be processed after September 30, 2017 and may take up to 10 weeks.
