B.Tech Cyber Security Programme - Academics

NU B.Tech Cyber Security Programme requires a student to complete 178 credits in four academic years constituting eight semesters in NIIT University. The first seven semesters are organized in the campus while the last semester is conducted off-campus at an industry location to complete Industry Practice. A student of B.Tech cannot take more than six academic years to complete the B.Tech Cyber Security Programme. Academic regulations of the University define the minimum academic performance and other stipulated conditions required for awarding of B.Tech degree.

The B.Tech Cyber Security Programme is categorized as follows:

  • Humanities, Social Sciences & Management - to acquire interdisciplinary knowledge
  • Basic Sciences - Mathematics & Sciences - to develop analytical ability
  • Professional Core - To gain proficiency in domain area
  • Professional Electives - To specialize in an industry-specific domain
  • Open Electives - To orient towards outside-of-domain professional interests
  • R&D Project - To inculcate a strong research bent of mind
  • Capstone Project – To develop industry readiness skills
  • Industry Practice - To build seamlessness with the world of work through Industry-work or Industry-oriented research

In addition, students can undertake the Minor programme along with the B.Tech Cyber Security Programme , starting in the 4th semester, to acquire expertise in areas other than their core discipline. Students are required to complete 3-5 additional courses with credits ranging from 12-15 within the duration of the degree programme in order to acquire a certificate for Minor programme.
