HSS Courses in the B.TechProgramme architecture

  1. B.TechProgramme architecture requires every B.Tech student, irrespective of stream, to do six HSS Courses of 3 credits each, one each Semester starting from Second Semester of the Programme.
  2. Out of the six HSS courses, three are compulsorily given to all students. These are Professional Ethics and Values, Economics for Engineers and Basics of Management. Students choose remaining three HSS courses comprising 9 credits, one a Semester, out of a list of other HSS courses.

Operational Rules of the Minor Programme

  1. A student can opt for Minor at the end of Ist Year of B.Tech programme.
  2. A student can opt for only ONE Minor.
  3. Student is required to have a CGPA of minimum 5.75 at the end of Ist Year to be eligible for enrolment into Minor program.
  4. Student will be registered for the Minor programme upon payment of one-time fee for the Minor programme.
  5. List of Areas in which the Minor programme will be offered for B.Tech CSE, ECE and BT will be announced at the end of every Academic Year. Some areas may be exclusively for a given discipline while others may be common to all disciplines.
  6. If the response to a particular Minor area is less than the minimum number, the offer of that Minor area will be withdrawn.
  7. No of courses required to be completed for Minor may vary from area to area, with the minimum being 3 courses (12 credits) and maximum being 5 courses (16 credits). Individual courses may be of 2-4 credits each.

    If a student is doing an IP/Project in Semester VII, the course will run on-line during Industry Practice/Project or a student may do Course 5 in Semester VIII on return to Campus on completion of IP. This decision will lie with the University.

  10. Only one of the Open Elective courses can be utilized for doing a course under Minor programme.
  11. If a student discontinues from the Minor programme, s/he will get the transcript for the courses completed along with information on CGPA, but will not get the Certificate.
  12. There is no stipulation of minimum CGPA and maximum permissible E grades in the Minor programme. However, if a student gets NC report in any course in the Minor programme, s/he will have to replace NC report by a valid grade by repeating the course at an extra charge when the course is offerednext in order to become eligible for award of Minor certificate.
  13. Students of Minor programme may be undertaking a course with other students for whom the course is part of their B.Tech or MBA programme. Relative Grading will be done for the entire class in such situations.
  14. All rules of Academic Regulations will apply to courses of Minor program except the ones stated in No. 11 above.
  15. Fee Related Rules

  16. A student opting for the Minor programme will be required to deposit the one-time applicable fee on or before the last date as announced for fee payment for the Semester of first registration to Minor course (4th Semester of B.Tech).
  17. If a student discontinues the Minor programme, s/he will forfeit the fee.
  18. If a student wishes to change the area of Minor programme after registering in one or more courses in one area, s/he will have to pay once again the entire fee for the new area and will have to take courses in Summer Term, if offered. Such a change will not be permitted in normal circumstances.
