Advisory Boards

Guiding lights

A multi-disciplinary university, NIIT University (NU) envisages a systemic, technology-driven overhaul of higher education in the country. Driven by the idea of education aligned to the needs of industry, which promotes research, discovery and entrepreneurship, the university has striven to stretch academic horizons, ably guided by its Advisory Boards.

Board of Advisors

Drawn from a pool of eminent thought leaders from diverse disciplines across the country, NU’s Board of Advisors helps leadership to perceive the interconnections and interplay between diverse domains and anticipate and harness the directions they are likely to take. Our students get the opportunity to interact with these opinion shapers, hear diverse perspectives that help awaken their latent ideas.

Industry Advisory Board

IABs are innovative forums that can create new mechanisms to help students have a deeper interaction with industry.

Industry Advisory Boards (IABs) ensure that industry is an equal partner in the university’s academic endeavours. The IABs advise the NU leadership on industry trends and directions. By involving industry in relevant processes and functions of the university, NU puts its core principle of providing an education aligned with industry trends and needs into action.

There are IABs for each academic programme, and its members participate in the entire spectrum of activities from admissions to placements. By participating in academic functions and working with faculty on research projects, IABs help in narrowing the gulf that exists between academia and industry.

IAB support for NU includes:

  • Programme design
  • Curriculum design and content
  • Identifying adjunct faculty from industry
  • Selection process for high-calibre students
  • Identifying research projects
  • Processes and facilitation for Industrial Practice and other internships
  • Placements
  • Establishing innovation centres

Research Advisory Board

The RAB helps strengthen NU’s research orientation, so it evolves into a leading hub of innovation.
NU’s Research Advisory Board (RAB) comprises renowned academic and industry researchers from across the world. These leading researchers bring to NU their deep knowledge, research and academic rigour in the technologies of the future such as robotics, cloud computing, mobile networking, high-performance computing, Internet of Things, and cyber security, etc.
The aim of the RAB is to help drive the university’s core principle of research-driven education. It advises and actively engages with NU on all research-related matters. It also enables the university to forge linkages and partnerships with reputed international schools of higher learning, as well as with leading research and development (R&D) labs in India and abroad.
RAB facilitates a two-way interaction between the labs and NU by encouraging leading researchers from these labs to accept visiting and adjunct faculty positions at NU. In turn, it also helps PhD students from the university to connect with researchers. At a broader level, the RAB helps NU outline its research agenda and priorities.
