Eligibility Criteria for Admission
Candidates applying for the M.Tech GIS Programme should satisfy the following requirements:
1. Minimum 50% marks in High School (10th) Exam.
2. Minimum 50% marks in 10+2 Exam from any Board in India or its equivalent from any other country.
3. Minimum 50% marks in relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree as mentioned below:
- Master’s Degree holders in Remote Sensing, Geomatics, Geoinformatics, Environmental Sciences, GI Sciences, Physical Sciences, Geology, Ecology, Geography, Anthropology, Archaeology, Economic Geography or related areas and those who are completing their Degree in the current academic year.
- Bachelor’s Degree holders in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture and those who are completing their Degree in the current academic year.
- Professionals with 3 year- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in any of the above mentioned areas.
- Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institute of Engineers (India); AMICE by Institute of Civil Engineers (India)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech.
Admission Process will comprise of any one of the following:
- Candidates with a valid GATE score: Based on the GATE score and Eligibility Criteria for Admission mentioned above, candidates will be shortlisted for interview.
- Candidates without a valid GATE/GRE score: Candidates without a valid GATE/GRE score will be required to appear for NU Aptitude Test* on the day of interview. Based on the NU Aptitude Test score and Eligibility Criteria for Admission mentioned above, candidates will be shortlisted for interview.
- Candidates with a valid GRE score: Based on the GRE score and Eligibility Criteria for Admission mentioned above, candidates will be shortlisted for interview.
- Additionally, a valid TOEFL/IELTS score is required for students from countries other than India where English is not the primary language of instruction.
*The NU Aptitude Test will be held on the day of Interview. It will be of 1 hour duration with multiple choice questions in basic Physics, Mathematics (Class X), General Aptitude and Reasoning.
Admission to the Programme will be offered based on the following:
- 5% weightage to the marks obtained in the High School (10th) Exam.
- 10% weightage to the marks obtained in 10+2 Exam.
- 20% weightage to the marks obtained in Last Degree (Graduation/Post Graduation).
- 25% weightage to the marks obtained in GATE/GRE/NU Aptitude Test.
- 40% weightage to the performance in the interview.
