He started his career at The Doon School, Dehradun, and went on to join the British School in New Delhi as Principal. He is currently the Director of Vasant Valley School, New Delhi. which he helped start, designing and implementing processes, procedures, logistics, staffing plans and management systems. In a short span of time, Vasant Valley School became, and remains, among the most sought after institutions in the country.

As Executive Director of Learn Today, the Learning Division of The India Today Group, he conceptualised a learning-and-testing portal to bring quality education within the reach of students across India. Learn Today also advises on setting up new schools, which are centres of excellence, across the country.

Mr. Arun Kapur is the Chairman of Ritinjali, a non-governmental organization he set up in 1995, which is a vehicle for community development through education and constructive work among marginalised societies across India. Children’s shelters, schools and vocational programmes, youth programmes, libraries and community development programmes form the core focus of Ritinjali through extensive professional and volunteer networks. The singular objective of Ritinjali’s various initiatives is to empower people through its various projects so that they may be able to contribute constructively to their own lives, their families, their communities and society at large. In 2002, he established Pallavan, an early childhood development programme for children between the ages of 2 and 5 years. He is also actively engaged in building learning environments catering to a diverse group of learners—mentally challenged, physically challenged, rural and urban—across India.

He is the author of Transforming Schools: Empowering Children, a book that offers insights to ‘what makes a great school’ and an abundance of resources for directing a school on its journey with a growth plan for all the stakeholders – students, teachers, administrators and parents in a school.
