| Friends,
Enriching interactions and interesting initiatives by many of our students were the unique features in the month of May. The campus was brimming with enthusiasm rendered by the vibrant presence of the MBA(Finance & Banking) students who got the opportunity to interact with our Founder and share their experiences. There was also an intellectually stimulating session where Raji interacted with the faculty, on ‘Exploring Technology-based Core Principle’ and its application in teaching-learning process. The MBA students returned from China, after almost a month long International Immersion program; a fantastic experience in assimilating the managerial practices in an emerging economic and business environment, while enhancing their global perspective. Although it is end semester and vacation time for the BTech students, a lot of students shall be actively participating in internships at leading organizations and summer term programs at the University. Excitement, apprehension, wonder, jubilation are some of the varied emotions in students targeting Universities after Class 12. Admissions for the new session are in full swing, with students going through rigorous admission and interview processes. Our endeavour through this newsletter is not only to keep you all informed about the progress and plans at NU, but also to open new vistas of information in selecting the right stream. Biotechnology is one such absorbing program that is having a great future in terms of research and career options and this is the highlight of this month. | Beyond Temporal and Spatial Limits of the Classroom | |
| The faculty at NU had the privilege of interacting with Mr. Rajendra S. Pawar, Founder, NIIT University during his visit to the campus on May 31. The session began with emphasis on the dynamism of the true vision of NU that could be realized only with the fortification of the four core principles in the teaching learning process.
Students today gain knowledge by transcending the temporal and spatial limits of the classroom, and therefore, it becomes critical for the faculty to become more conversant with the latest technologies in educational settings. Raji mentioned that educators should bring innovation in classroom teaching by introducing different strategies to integrate technology in their lessons. Faculty members shared their viewpoints on how they could use cutting edge technology as part of the pedagogy. A few suggestions that were shared in the rendezvous was to have online assessments, brainstorming sessions to share insights on technology and a harmonious blend of technology with regular teaching. The engaging session with Raji was hugely stimulating and revitalised the faculty to innovate and bring more techno vigour to academics at NU. |

| Transforming Minds | |
| Students of MBA(Finance & Banking students) got the opportunity to interact with our Founder at the University campus. Raji spent a beautiful evening at ‘Astachal’ with the NU family on May 16, where he asserted the splendour of a contemplative mind in understanding oneself and transforming the worldview.
In a more informal get together with the students, he encouraged the students to espouse a culture of innovation that would propel a positive change in their lives. In a fun filled evening on May 31, Raji witnessed impressive performances by students. From Bengali to Tamil, English to Arabian and not to forget the popular Hindi numbers, the performers displayed their talent with grace and enthusiasm. Towards the end of the evening, Raji announced a contest to add flavour to the NU website. He encouraged the students to put on their thinking caps and take active part in the contest by suggesting innovative ideas. |

| In Appreciation of NU | |
| Sports Montage | |

| Connecting to be NUMentor | |
| Amongst many unique identifiers that ‘Community Connect’ wraps, being NUMentor to village kids is the most wonderful. It is amazing to observe them being mentors so effortlessly.
As reported on the web, the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, Lew Platt, believes in the value of mentoring, in a letter addressing HP’s K-12 program, Platt sees “educating our children as both a business and a social imperative. After all, the young faces we see today are the faces of the workforce and customers of tomorrow.” Connecting with the natural community around the campus adds a decisive value to learning programmes at NU. When NU students visited the village, identifying their mentee was the initial step in this process. How they selected mentees reflects two categories of orthodox and unorthodox views, both being helpful with this heterogeneous group. The orthodox based their selection mainly on children who took instructions , were well behaved and obedient , appeared confident and sincere, cooperated, knew subjects better than peers had clear objectives for their future and were hard working. The unorthodox based their selection of mentee on observations about need for confidence boost, scope for development, naughty yet smart, observed simplicity & innocence, ambitious and ability to dream big. The unorthodox also observed agility, spark in the eyes, thirst for knowledge, want to be different, symbolizing themselves in the mentee, feeling connected and accepted by mentee. Sometimes just for no reason they selected their mentee. Common observations amongst both orthodox and unorthodox were, urge to learn and communication skills. Most NUMentors wished to do their best for every visit for children passionate to learn with determination. |

| NUMentors have been genuinely concerned about growing mentee’s potential by being someone who believes in their talents and works with them relentlessly to explore latent capabilities. With a strong dedication and faith, equipping an engaging mindset while helping personality development in more than one area has been a focus. Openness that allows different viewpoints to co-exist and stay harmonious, never once, making anyone feel inferior has been the hallmark of interactions that NU students have experienced. Community Connect, unique identifier for university wide programme, continues to evolve through uncharted non-structured experimental curriculum. |
