Kalyan Basu has obtained his MS from IIT, Delhi and B.E. (Electrical Engg.) from Calcutta University. He has worked in various capacities with different organizations of repute in India and abroad. While working with Nortel Networks, he was the focal point for creating opportunities for Nortel in the local switching market in US as well as became the centre of wireless competencies in the Company. During his tenure as the Director, Wireless Systems Technology in Nortel Networks he was instrumental in building strong relationships with the mobility and mobile IP experts of academia and industry. He has also served as VP Systems, Yotta Networks and Managing Director, CREWMAN Lab, University of Texas, Arlington. He is currently heading a technology start-up company to provide Multimedia Networking Design Tools for multimedia services. |
Jayant Bose
Jayant Bose completed his Post Graduation in Management from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. He did his B.Sc.(Hons.) from Lucknow University. He has a rich industry experience of over 25 years, where he worked in various reputed organizations such as Frank Simoes Advertising, McDowell’s, Amrit Group, Dalmia Biscuits, among others. His teaching experience spans over 8 years, wherein he served as Dean of Wigan & Leigh College, U.K. and IILM Academy for Higher Learning, Greater Noida, and as Director of Maharishi Institute of Management, Noida. He specializes in the Functional areas of marketing & strategy and Communications. He is actively involved in socio-cultural activities and is the General Secretary of International Students’ Forum, Lucknow University and Colloquia Secretary, IIM Calcutta. |
Dr. Smarajit Dey
Smarajit Dey is President – Strategic Initiatives, and responsible for NIIT’s new businesses. In this capacity, he oversees the operations of the Institute for Finance, Banking and Insurance (IFBI – NIIT’s new entity with equity participation by ICICI bank), and NIIT Imperia, NIIT’s Executive Management Education venture. Earlier, Dr. Dey has led NIIT’s Individual Learning Business, set-up NIIT Online Learning Ltd., headed Corporate Development & Quality, and managed NIIT’s Software and Learning initiatives in East India and Bangladesh. Born in 1957, Dr. Dey holds a Doctorate in Information Systems from BITS Pilani. Dr. Dey was on the faculty of BITS Pilani before joining NIIT, where he was closely associated with its Industry-Collaborative Education programs. Dr. Dey also serves on the Executive Board of the Association of Indian Management Schools. |
Anuraj Gambhir
Anuraj has worked in the mobile telecommunications industry for over 2 decades across several parts of the mobile value web and Devices ecosystem including leading Mobile Network Operators, Device Manufacturers, R&D Centres, International Trade Bodies, Consultancy Firms, VAS Developers/Providers, Wireless Technology Retail and Network Solution Vendors on 4 continents – Australasia, North America, Europe & Asia. He has an honours degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering with specialization in Telecommunications from the University of NSW (Australia), a micro-eMBA from Oxford (UK) and also completed an executive leadership excellence program from ISB (India). He has worked from hands-on technical roles to senior executive management positions and is regarded by many as an industry visionary. Companies he has worked for include: NASA/JPL, SingTel Optus, Logica/Aethos, T-Mobile, Orange, GSM Association, Sharp, Siemens/BenQ mobile, Spice & Ericsson. He has spearheaded several innovations in the advanced as well as grass-root level mobile domain in mature and emerging markets. He focuses his efforts on strategic business development and nurturing breakthrough concepts leading to game changing and disruptive/radical innovation. He is a valued advisory board member of several organizations globally and actively involved in the evolution of key mobile standards. Several of his ideas he conceptualized are now global standards (e.g. NITZ – Network Identity & TimeZone, COW or Cell-on-Wheels using satellite transmission for rapid network deployment anywhere, Universal Charging/Data Connector for mobile devices). |
Dr. Anita Goel
Dr. Anita Goel is an Associate Professor of Computer Science in University of Delhi, Dyal Singh College, New Delhi. She is an alumnus of Hindu College, Delhi (BSc (Honours) Physics, 1985) and University of Delhi (MCA, 1988).Anita was conferred a Ph.D. in the area of software testing by Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi in 2005. With over 23 years of experience in teaching in Higher Education space, she has taught at both undergraduate and post graduate levels. She is also a guest faculty at Delhi Technological University (Earlier DCE) and Department of Computer Science, Delhi University. She has been the Head of Department of Dyal Singh College for over 13 years, during this period. |
Subir Guha
Subir Guha has done his Post Graduation in Management from IIM, Calcutta. He did his B.E. (Mechanical) from Govt. Engineering College, Jabalpur. He has had 30 years of experience in the industry. His areas of expertise are Operations, Supply chain, Projects, Marketing, Training activities and Administration in leading organizations including major multinationals. He even worked with GKW, Metal Box, Mahindra & Mahindra, Usha Martin, Paharpur Cooling Towers.As a Business Head, he was responsible for profitability and growth of the organization. He conducted technology transfer from foreign collaborators/suppliers and technology up-gradation through in-house efforts. He has traveled abroad extensively in this connection. Has been actively involved in strategy management functions and was involved in designing and conducting innovative management and skill development programmes. |
Sanjay Gupta
Sanjay Gupta has done his M.Tech from IIT, Delhi and is currently heading Centre for Research in Cognitive Systems (CRCS). Sanjay started his career as a Graduate Engineer Trainee in Tata Motors, Pune in 1986. He was promoted as Assistant Engineer (Electronics) in Tata Engineering (now Tata Motors) in 1988.He has also served as Senior Scientific Officer in IIT Delhi from 1991 to 1993. He joined NIIT in 1993 and has served in various senior positions since then. Sanjay’s research interests are in the field of Computer-assisted science education and devices for human-computer interaction.He currently has 3 patents to his name 7 more are in the pipeline. He has done projects with Ministry of Tourism, NIIT’s Hole-In-The-Wall (HIWEL), NIIT’s School Learning Services (SLS), and amongst others. |
Joseph A Hopper
Joseph A Hopper ranked in the Dean’s List during his Post Graduation from the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad. He currently heads Corporate Development at NIIT Ltd. Prior to this he was Director in charge of administering the Post Graduate Program of ISB. He set up various programs there including the Experiential Learning Projects (ELP), the Co-Curricular Activities department, the International Exchange Program and the Wharton Global Consulting Practicum. His first assignment, ELP, became the most sought-after elective course. He began his career as an Equity Research Analyst at the United Management Company in Virginia, USA, where he was one of four buy-side analysts to oversee USD 1 billion in assets for clients including trusts, foundations, high net worth individuals and retail investors. He graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Business Administration and Economics from King College. Joseph’s core area of interest is the application of the Theory of Constraints to business processes, management and nurturing entrepreneurship. He has conducted programs on consulting, communication skills and project management. |
G Krishnamurthy
G. Krishnamurthy completed his B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from IIT-Kanpur and his Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) from IIM-Calcutta. He was involved in setting up the Computer-Aided Management Centre at IIM-Calcutta and was also involved in teaching various Systems courses, such as MIS, Systems Analysis and Design, Operating Systems and DBMS. Subsequently, he worked in NIIT for 10 years in various areas including training, consulting, software development, and learning software development. He has also been involved in development of software products and network security devices. He has held the post of Country Head in his last assignment at Springboard Research, where he was on the top management team of the organization. He has been operating as an independent consultant for the last one year. He is now a Visiting Faculty at NIIT University, and is currently teaching a course on “IT For Managers”. |
Samir Mehta
Samir Mehta has done his Post Graduate Program in Management from Indian School of Business, Hyderabad majoring in Operations & IT and Finance. He is currently working in NIIT Limited as Regional Deputy Director – Strategic Initiatives and is credited with creating a new business idea from scratch to tap the Chinese education market amongst other achievements to his credit. Prior to joining NIIT Ltd, he worked with Infosys Technologies Limited. He has completed his B.E. in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Pune Institute of Computer Technology in 2001. |
Dr. Archan Mishra
Archan Misra is a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computing Engineering from the University of Maryland, USA. An MS in Electrical and Computing Engineering from the same University, he completed his BS in Electrical and Communications Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, with a specialisation in communications and signal processing. Dr. Misra is currently involved in several research projects on topics as diverse as Pervasive e-healthcare Technologies; Network Science for Socio-Technical Network properties, Low Intercept and Anti-Locational MANETs, Data Management Primitives for Collaborative Mobile Computing, Sensor Network and Information Processing and Delivery, Mobile/Converged Communications Middleware, and Smart Appliance and Electrical Grid Management, among others. Prior to joining NU, Dr. Misra was a Senior Scientist in the Internet and Wireless Network Management Department, in Telcordia Technologies, USA. His work included developing a long-term research strategy for the Applied Research division of Telcordia, securing large funded research opportunities for key thrust areas such as Mobile Healthcare, large-scale Complex Network Science for Telecom Networks, and Collaborative Autonomy for UAVs. From 2001 to 2008, Dr. Misra was a Research Staff Member in the Distributed Systems Department of IBM’s T.J. Watson Research Centre in NY. At IBM, he remained the Technical Lead and Key Researcher on projects in the areas of Mobile Computing, Sensor-based Streaming Systems and Converged Networking Middleware, balancing pure scientific research and customer-focused systems innovation. The winner of several Best Paper as well as Corporate Awards, Dr. Misra has also edited several leading technical journals. He was Technical Editor of the Pervasive and Mobile Computing (PMC) Journal, the Technical Editor of the IEEE Wireless Network Magazine, a Guest Editor of the Wireless Network Journal and the Guest Editor, IEEE Network Magazine. |
D. Manjunath
D. Manjunath received his B.E. from Mysore University, MS from IIT Madras and Ph.D. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy NY in 1986, 1989 and 1993 respectively. He spent the summer of 1990 at the Corporate R & D center of GE in Schenectady NY, was a Visiting Faculty in the Computer and Information Sciences Department of the University of Delaware and a Post Doctoral Fellow in the Computer Science Department of the University of Toronto. He was with the Electrical Engineering Department of IIT Kanpur from December 1994 to July 1998. He has been with the Department of Electrical Engineering of IIT, Bombay since July 1998 where he is now a Professor. Manjunath’s research interests are in the areas of communication networks, performance analysis of systems, queueing systems and multimedia communications. His recent research has concentrated on the analysis of random wireless data and sensor networks, distributed computation over networks, network pricing and queue control. His research has been supported by several Government of India agencies and private sector organisations. He also consults extensively on technology development and technology deployment projects. Manjunath has supervised about seventy graduate theses and has about ninety publications in peer reviewed journals and conferences.He has taught fourteen different courses and introduced three new courses. He is a co-author of two Morgan-Kaufman textbooks “Communication Networking: An Analytical Approach” that was published in May 2004 that is now the prescribed textbook in many universities worldwide, and “Wireless Networking” that was published in April 2008. Manjunath received the Best Paper award at ACM SIGMETRICS 2010, the Benjamin-Meaker Visiting Professorship from the University of Bristol, the IIT Bombay Research Paper award and the SVC Aiya Memorial Award for Excellence in Telecom teaching. |
Dr. K.K. Ramakrishnan
Ramakrishnan is a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at AT&T Labs-Research. He joined AT&T Bell Labs in 1994 and has been with AT&T Labs-Research since its inception in 1996. Prior to 1994, he was a Technical Director and Consulting Engineer in Networking at Digital Equipment Corporation. K.K. is an IEEE Fellow and an AT&T Fellow. He has published nearly 150 papers and has over 90 patents issued. K.K’.s current work is on a range of topics including information distribution, multimedia content distribution and protocols designed to be robust against failures and losses across multiple layers. His work on the “DECbit” congestion avoidance mechanism was recognized in the 1995 retrospective issue of ACM Sigcomm Computer Communication Review as one of the 16 most important papers published over the previous 25 years in ACM Sigcomm publications. The work once again received the ACM Sigcomm Test of Time Paper Award in 2006. K.K. received his MS from the Indian Institute of Science (1978), an MS (1981) and Ph.D. (1983) in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland, USA. |
Dr. Nirmal Kumar Sancheti
Nirmal Kumar Sancheti obtained his Ph.D. in mathematical programming from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Currently, he is the Vice President (Engineering) at AllGo Embedded Systems. His prior engagements involved building Embedded Software groups at Motorola, Philips and Insilica. Nirmal also runs Sankalan, a training organization with a focus on productivity improvement through building concepts. Nirmal’s training interests are in the areas of effective programming, software development processes and software testing. He has conducted training programmes in the areas of Data Structures and Algorithms, DSP, Linear Algebra, Effective Programming and Developing Quality Software at Motorola, Philips, Conexant, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and Distance Learning program of BITS. |
Dr. Neeraj Sharma
Neeraj Sharma holds a Ph.D. in Management from IIT Delhi and a M.Tech in Human Resource Management from IIT Kharagpur after completing Masters Degree from GB Pant University Pant Nagar Dr. Neeraj Sharma is currently Head of Academics at NIIT Imperia. He has been responsible for the Institutional tie ups and has played a key role in Product Management at Imperia. Before assuming the role at NIIT, Dr. Sharma was the Head of Institutional Tie ups and part of founding team which had set up DirecWay Global Education (now called Hughes Net Global Education) at Hughes Escorts Communications Ltd and in that sense Neeraj has been the part of synchronous learning revolution in this country. Earlier Dr. Neeraj Sharma has worked for Usha Martin Industries Ltd at Jamshedpur where he headed Training function and later was head of Quality Assurance at Tata Infotech Ltd and at Hughes Escorts Communications Ltd. Dr. Neeraj Sharma has over a dozen research papers published in national and international journals apart from authoring some chapters in reference books of management Neeraj is also the author of book “Man Manthan” a collection of Hindi poems. |
Praveen Sharma
Praveen Sharma is a management professional with nearly 20 years of work experience in various organizations. After working for several years in State Bank of India, he moved on to the education industry. At his appointment as Director of Accman Institute of Management, Greater Noida, in 2007, he became one of the youngest persons to be appointed as Director to any AICTE approved Management Institute. He has also worked as Director of Pearl Academy, Dean of RIT and Head Academics of Le Magnus University (Icfai Group). At present, he is working at NIIT Ltd. Ms Rekha Shorey
Rekha Shorey completed her graduation with Honours from Lady Shri Ram College followed by Post Graduation from Delhi University. She started her career as a Faculty member at her alma mater. Later she also acquired a degree in language teaching methodology.For more than a decade now Ms. Shorey has been involved with training of young professionals in the corporate world to enhance their skills in Spoken English, Written Business Communication, Cross Cultural sensitization, Presentation Skills, Negotiation skills, Inter personal skills etc. She has worked with well known multi-national companies like HCL Technologies, Perot Systems, Hewitt Associates, Tata Telecom, Bharati Airtel, Siemens Power Engineering Ltd., ABB, Moser Baer, Alstom Power, Jindal Steel and Power etc. Her target audience in all these companies ranged from young engineers to middle management level where she conducted customized programmes to fit their job profiles. She is currently associated with IIIT Delhi as a visiting faculty member, conducting Communication skills programmes as part of the curriculum for B.Tech students. Meera S Datta
Meera is an Electronics engineer with an M.S. degree in Software Systems. She is currently with the Centre for Research in Cognitive Systems (CRCS), NIIT Ltd. She is involved in several research projects in the areas of content co-creation, user-generated media, mobile applications for remote monitoring and technology-based tracking of learners in open learning environments. She has played an active role in the creation of NIIT University and handles the technology courses for M.Tech. ET as well as put in place the learning management system. Her earlier work involved in researching, designing and developing award-winning products for children’s science education. She was also responsible for creating a viable and scalable model for developing talent for global readiness from small towns for the IT and allied sectors. This has resulted in the creation of District Learning Centers offering quality training to youth to make them employable. She has published a number of articles and papers and holds several patents and awards. She has organized and chaired conferences such as ICCS (International Conference on Cognitive Systems) and BTPC (Best Teaching Practices Conferences for Teachers). She is passionate about reading, terrace gardening and ancient philosophy. |

SK Gupta is a gold medalist in ME (Production) from University of Roorkee ( now IIT).He has served in the Army and retired as a Major General with the designation of Commander Base Workshops ( Production units in the Army employing around 20,000 civilian workers in addition to combatants).Earlier, he was the HR head dealing with a workforce of about 100,000 soldiers and 20,000 civilians.He has done PGDM & taught management subjects since 1976 in the Army and as a visiting faculty in several management institutes.Besides heading a training establishment in the Army, he was a member of the defence training advisory council during 1992-1995 headed by Mr Abdul Kalam.He has been associated with many management studies in Public/ Private sector organizations.He has presented papers and also presided over management oriented seminars.After retirement from the Army, he has also worked in the Industry at senior positions.He is the Hony Chairman of the Manufacturing Division of NCR Chamber of Commerce & Industry.Currently, he is covering subjects like Production & Operations Management, Operations Research, Organization Development, Performance Management and Principles & Practices of Management as a visiting faculty in Management Institutes located in NCR. The title of her thesis was Floating Exchange Rate Regime: Impact on Indian exports.She Joined the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade and served as a Professor there for more than three decades.After retirement from IIFT she was Dean (Academics) in Fortune Institute of International Business.She has done considerable research in functional and marketing areas and published papers she was a recipient of UNDP fellowship for five times and visited Japan, USA, African and South East Asian Countries in connection with the research. |
Rajesh C. Mathur
Mr. Rajesh C. Mathur is the Vice Chairman of the Board of NIIT GIS Ltd., a Joint venture between NIIT Technologies Ltd. and ESRI, Inc., the World’s largest provider of GIS software. Prior to that he was the President and Chief Operating Officer of the company. Mr. Mathur is an Electrical Engineer from IIT Delhi. He has attended general management program conducted by Ross School of Business, University of Michigan. Mr. Mathur has been associated with the IT industry both in India and overseas for more than 30 years. He has handled assignments in General Management, Marketing, Corporate Planning and International Operations. Prior to his current assignment he has worked with Wipro, IDM and DCM Data Systems in India and USA. As the head of NIIT GIS, India’s premier GIS products and services company, Mr. Mathur is spearheading the growth of GIS deployment in India. He is actively involved with various professional bodies associated with the Indian GIS industry. He is currently Co-Chair of FICCI task force on Geospatial Technologies and Sr. Vice President of Geospatial Industry Association of India (AGI). He is also former President of Indian Society of Geomatics. He is a member of the Editorial Board of Geospatial Today. Recently he has been honored and acknowledged by the India Geospatial Forum by conferring Lifetime Achievement Award for his pioneering contribution to the Indian Geospatial Industry by creating awareness and demonstrating benefits of this wonderful technology in different walks of life in India. |

Debjyoti Pal is Vice President & Head – Technology & Service at NIIT GIS Ltd., a Joint venture between NIIT Technologies Ltd. and ESRI, Inc., the World’s largest provider of GIS software. Dr. Pal is a Ph.D. from Visva Bharti University and has done his M.Sc (Geology) from Banaras Hindu University. Dr Pal has been associated with IT industry for more than 20 years. He has handled assignments in Strategy Management, New Set Ups, Delivery Management, and Product Development. Prior to his current he has worked with Rolta India Limited, Thales Inc, C-DAC, India. As the Vice President & Head – Technology & Service of NIIT GIS, India’s premier GIS products and services company, Dr Pal is spearheading the growth of GIS deployment in India. He is a recipient of ‘Young Scientist’ by International Association of Geomorphologists (IAG) for a Summer course on Alps. |
