ELIGIBILITY AND SELECTION PROCESS
Eligibility
Graduates in any discipline with minimum 50% aggregate marks are eligible to apply. Students in the final year of graduation are permitted to apply and participate in the selection process, and may be made a provisional Admissions Offer on the basis of their available academic record, to be confirmed only if their final graduation results are available by 30th June, 2011. Applicants who expect that their final results may be delayed beyond 30th June, 2011 are requested to indicate expected date of results in the Application – in no case later than 30th September, 2011 – so that a specific solution for such candidates may be worked out, if possible.
Application and Selection
The NU MBA seeks meritorious men and women with effective personalities who possess a spirit of inquiry, excitement and daring. The selection process for the programme has been designed to identify such individuals. The selection process consists of filling up of an Application Form, and appearing in an Aptitude Test, a Communication Proficiency Test, a Presentation and a Personal Interview. Academic merit and work-experience are given due credit. In the interests of fair assessment of potential, NIIT University permits all prima-facie eligible students to participate in the complete Selection Process without intermediate elimination through shortlisting. Consistent with NU MBA principles, industry representatives participate actively in the selection process and assess students’ potential for corporate excellence.
Candidates are required to apply using the NU MBA Application Form, downloadable from the website or available from the NU Admissions Office upon payment of the Application Fee. Completed applications, together with the Application Fee of Rs 1350/- payable through cash/cheque/DD are to be submitted at the NU Admissions Office. The Application Form is designed to encourage the candidate to describe his/her background, achievements, interests, influences, motivation, career goals, and his/her own assessment of why s/he would benefit from and contribute to the NU MBA programme. The Application material submitted by the candidate is an important component of the Selection Process.
Applicants are required to appear for the NIIT University Management Aptitude Test (NUMAT).
[Those who have appeared for theCAT/XAT/MAT within the last one year of the start of academic session, or possess a valid GMAT score, are exempted from appearing for the NUMAT; such candidates must enclose a photocopy of their score transcript with their application.]
The NUMAT is an online assessment of 60 minutes duration and is offered by prior appointment.
Applicants take the Communication Proficiency Test, make a Presentation on a specified topic, and appear for a Personal Interview (all on the same day) as the next steps in the Selection Process. Personal Interview and related activities take place on specified days beginning in February 2011, and candidates are required to specify their preferred date(s) for these assessments in the Application, which has to be subsequently confirmed by the University subject to availability of slots.
NIIT University follows a rolling admission policy, and completed Application Forms will be accepted as long as the rolling admissions are not completed, the earliest date for closure of first cycle being 30th November 2010. The first set of admission decisions will be announced usually within seven days of the date of interview. Subsequent announcements will be made if seats remain available. An offer of admission has to be accepted by the candidate within the given timeframe (usually 7 days from the date of offer) by making a non-refundable payment of Rs 10,000/- towards Term Processing Fees. This is to be followed by the payment of first instalment of fees within the timeframe given in offer letter. Non-adherence to these payment deadlines may lead to the admission offer being revoked.
