NU offers admission to its prestigious B.Tech programme for the batch 2012-2016 under an Early Application Mode (EAP) for applicants who are appearing for their Class XII Board Examination in March-April 2012 as also to those who have taken their Class XII Board examination not earlier than March-April 2010.
This mode of admission offers the option of an early decision to applicants who have scored an aggregate of 70% in their Class X and are certain of taking admission at NU.
The Eligible applicants if granted admission could also qualify for attractive scholarships.
There are limited seats for which admission is being granted under the Early Application mode. The admission will be granted on a first come first served basis to only those applicants who meet all the admission criteria.
TIMELINES
The last date of submission of application under EAP is February 15, 2012.
The PCI will be scheduled by April 30, 2012 either through a face-to-face meeting or a video conference.
Selected candidates will be sent the Admission Offer via sms, email and courier within 48 hours of PCI and be given 5 working days of receiving the email and sms to accept the Admission Offer and enroll in the university by depositing the applicable fee. It is important that the parent/guardian of the Applicant schedules a personal interaction with the Admission Committee in person or by video conference before sending in the Admission Acceptance.
Based on the availability of seats, some applicants may be put on a waitlist with specific timelines.
PROCESS
Applicants interested in seeking admission in NU under EAP to the B-Tech programme have to go through the following steps.
Step 1: Submit the duly completed Admission Application form along with Class X attested mark-sheet and recommendation letter from the head of the institution from where the candidate is currently studying, using any of the following modes:
- Online at the NU website: www.niituniversity.in. Attach a scanned copy of the mark-sheet and recommendation letter.
- Printed copy of the form by post to NU Admission Office at NIIT House, 85, Sector 32, Institutional Area, Gurgaon – 122001.
- Printed copy of the form submitted in person to a duly authorized representative, details of which are available on the NU website.
Please note that the last date for receipt of applications under the EAP mode is February 15, 2012.
Step 2: NU will send an acknowledgement of the receiving the Admission Application form and send intimation about the schedule for PCI to each eligible candidate immediately upon receipt of the Admission Application by NU.
Step 3:Applicants to submit a copy of the self-attested admit card for the Class XII board examination with the reference of EAP number by February 28, 2012. In case of applicants who have taken their Class XII Board examination in March-April 2010 or 2011, they should submit the Class XII mark sheet.
Step 4: The eligible applicants undergo the PCI either face-to-face or through video conferencing within 7 days of the receipt of Admission Application form as per applicant’s convenience but not later than April 30, 2012.
The following will be assessed during the counseling interaction:
- English communication skills – written & oral.
- Interest & hobbies.
- Degree of self-awareness.
- Out of the box thinking.
- Reason for the choice of stream.
Step 5:All eligible applicants’ parents/ guardian will be invited for interactions with the NU team. The interactions can be either face-to-face or through video conferencing. They will be scheduled either on the same day as the PCI or within 7 days of the PCI. Parents/ guardian interaction is mandatory before admission acceptance.
Step 6: Applicant to intimate the Class XII result to NU Admissions Office with the reference of EAP number latest by May 31, 2012. In case the results of the Class XII examination is not announced by the Board then the applicant should inform the NU Admissions Office of the delay and seek a written extension for submission of the Class XII results.
Step 7: An EAP offer will be made to the selected candidates after the PCI with the applicants and the parents/guardian interaction and within one week after the announcement of the Class XII results, typically within seven days of Class XII results. In case of students who have taken their Class XII Board examination in March-April 2010 or 2011, the EAP offer will be made to the selected candidates after the PCI with the applicants and the parents/guardian interaction and within 7 days of PCI.
Step 8: Candidates to submit Admission Acceptance Letter duly signed by the candidate and the parent/guardian within 5 working days of receipt of EAP offer letter. They also need to enroll into the programme by paying the applicable fee within 5 working days of receiving the Admission Offer Letter sent via courier, sms, and email whichever is earlier. The fees can be paid in cash, or through electronic transfer, or by a Crossed Demand Draft, in favor of NIIT University, payable at New Delhi. From here their status changes from a ‘candidate’ to a ‘student’ of NU.
On receipt of the fees the candidates name will be entered in the scholarship roster under the NU scholars programme. The scholarship plan admissible to them will be as per their performance in Class XII Board examination and in accordance with the existing policy on the number of scholarships being awarded in the category as per their roster position.
Step 9: Candidates to submit attested copy of mark-sheets of Class X & Class XII by May 31, 2012.
Step 10:Students to join the University campus and complete the first registration formalities including submission of original mark-sheet of Class X and XII.
The programme commences on August 2, 2012.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The applicant should:
- Have filled the Early Application form by specified date.
- Be appearing in the Class XII Board examination in March/April 2012 or should possess the score of Class XII Board examination from year 2010 or 2011.
- Have scored an aggregate of >70% marks or equivalent in grades in Class X from any board in India or its equivalent from any other country.
- Be pursuing Physics, Chemistry and Maths (PCM) in Class XII for CSE & EC streams.
- Be pursuing Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) or PCM or PCMB for Biotechnology stream in Class XII.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Submission of duly completed application form by due date with all necessary documents as specified in the prospectus/admission notification.
- Candidate must enroll into the offered programme by paying the applicable fees by cash, or through electronic transfer or by Crossed Demand Draft, in favor of NIIT University, payable at New Delhi within 5 working days from the date of receiving the EAP Offer letter via sms, email and courier to B.Tech programme, failing which the offer of EAP will stand withdrawn automatically.
- Early application is valid only for the programme stated in the EAP Offer letter for the academic year 2012-13.
- Candidate must submit proof (original mark-sheet along with attested copy) of having passed the Class XII Board examination from any Indian Board or equivalent from abroad with a minimum of 60% marks.
